Algae ShieldŽ is a liquid algae prevention product intended for use in swimming pools treated with chlorine. Algae ShieldŽ should not be used in pools treated with Baquacil*, SoftSwim** or other biguanide products, or pools maintained with PristineBlueŽ. Algae ShieldŽ should not be used in conjunction with other algae treatments, flocculants, or metal-out products.

Algae ShieldŽ works within a wide pH range, but for bather comfort, maintain the pH between 7.2 and 7.6 or as recommended by your swimming pool retailer.

**SoftSwim is a trademark of BioLab, Inc.

To prevent algae in your chlorine pool apply Algae ShieldŽ at a dose of 1 ounce per 1,000 gallons of pool water, once a month. DO NOT ADD Algae ShieldŽ more than once a month, and do not exceed this recommended dosage rate.

If algae is already visible in your pool, send Algae ShieldŽ to the rescue!

  1. Add Algae ShieldŽ at a rate of 2 ounces per 1,000 gallons of water.
  2. Run filter constantly for 48 hours.
  3. Add a standard chlorine shock to oxidize any dead algae.

DO NOT ADD ANY Algae ShieldŽ for 30 days, and do not exceed this recommended dosage rate. After 30 days, apply Algae ShieldŽ at a rate of 1 ounce per 1,000 gallons once a month to prevent recurrence (see FOR ALGAE PREVENTION instructions above.)

A single treatment of Algae ShieldŽ at the end of the swim season is normally all it takes to keep a pool crystal clear until spring.

  1. Balance water.
  2. Shock the pool with a standard chlorine shock.
  3. Clean pool and backwash filter.
  4. Add 1 ounce of Algae ShieldŽ per 1,000 gallons of pool water.
  5. Follow pool equipment manufacturers' freeze recommendations. Unused Algae ShieldŽ must be stored at a temperature above 32 degrees Fahrenheit
  6. Cover pool and shut down filter.
  7. In the spring, open pool per your pool retailer's instructions.
